Following highly successful results of Ultrasonic Antifouling’s Ultra system on the Fleming 65, Venture II, which completed a much publicised passage through the Scottish Islands to Iceland, Fleming Yachts has now specified the Ultrasonic Antifouling (UAL) Ultra System Series II as an option for all new Fleming motoryachts sold.
The second of the company’s new 78 foot motor yachts will have a six transducer Ultra II system fitted to protect the hull and assist in keeping the stern gear free from fouling. Another system has been shipped to Fleming Australia for a new Fleming 55.
Tony Fleming, founder of the Fleming Yachts company has UAL’s Ultra systems fitted to his original Venture, a 65 berthed in Vancouver, and the new 65 used for the Icelandic cruise.
UAL director Nick Griffin commented, “The Fleming range of yachts are long range cruisers and not only demand a high standard of antifouling protection, but also with these motoryachts often cruising in delicate ecological areas, our Ultra system can provide complete protection without any damage to the environment. We have also worked with the team at Fleming to ensure the transducer positioning is optimal to provide some protection for the shafts and props, which is all important for the fuel consumption and performance of long range cruising yachts.”
The new Ultra Series II has provided a substantial level of interest in UAL due to the easier installation, lower cost and even more effective results, making the system highly desirable for boats builders as a factory fitted option. The Fleming Yachts announcement is expected to be the first of a global increase in the use of UAL’s Ultra Series II.
